Amen Amanda. When you recommended the book "Last Child in the Woods" three years ago, it spoke to me both as a mother and a professional educator. It confirmed the value of nurturing a child's natural curiosity and healthy fear of nature. I love the research based approach, as well as, the refective tone of the author.

It is always a challenge to take your own path, whatever it is. It is those moments, like yours at the park, that we receive the peace that we as parents have chosen wisely for our family. You are fortunate to have found good friends that share your convictions and parenting style. It makes me happy and hopeful for our future generations!

I just came across your info Amanda. You sound like a wonderful Mom, and I love how "real" you are. I think we all go through the moments of parental evolution, and it's important to be thankful for what we have, and content with where we are.
You sound very much like the Waldorf Moms from the school where my kiddos go. I feel an instant connection! :)
Cheers!

Yes, I know that feeling. My boys are content to just "be" and appreciate and enjoy the world around them. I can't even imagine putting them in a classroom all day.
Hey, I'm looking forward to joining that reading group you're starting up again next fall, right? ;)

I would much prefer my daughters to love to play in nature than imitate some characters from a TV show. I think what you are doing is wonderful and I am going to be utterly heartbroken if homeschooling doesn't work out for me.

Sounds great! Reminds me a lot of my childhood, actually. :)

It's good to be pleased and at peace with the way things turn out - which does become a lot easier when you realize there's not just one good way.
