It's quite likely that paul is a bit misinterpreted by the 'religious right', and I think it's important to be sure to account for sociological and cultural influences that are present in every manifestation of the church.

That said, with respect to the above statement and the sentiment being addressed: it's not so much that I would have thought Paul was "more strict" about women's roles than mens, but the very fact that they are mandatorily DIFFERENT that bugs me.
