Five Iron Frenzy – Old West

This song makes me think of moving into the dorm during my freshman year. Of course, now FIF also makes me think of my new, beautiful home state! Yay Colorado! I’d also like to point out that I was one of the few priveleged people to have the ORANGE copy of this CD. That’s right. Mine was not green. No sir-ee. Everyone has green, but I’m special! I have orange!

Anyhoo….

Today was really exciting, but I’m totally exhausted.

Last year we had gone up into the mountains to go snowboarding/skiing and on our way over one of the mountain passes, my son started having breathing issues and flushed REALLY badly. It freaked me out. He was sick that night and when we came back over the same pass, the same thing happened. We saw specialists, ran tests, etc, and couldn’t find anything wrong. We’ve been slowly taking him up higher and higher to see if it would happen again, and I’ve been a nervous wreck.

Today came the time to try the same pass again. It was just the next step. I really wanted a Xanax. I don’t even take Xanax, but it sounded like it’d help. My whole family is on them. Anyways, I had no meds, but we did just fine. My son didn’t flush and not only did he do fine both ways on the 11,300 ft. pass, but we also rode a lift from the ski area (8999 ft.) up to almost 11,000 ft and we hiked for an hour and he was fine. I was SO glad. It was such a relief. Now we can plan snowboarding trips for the family this winter. I feel like such a weight has been lifted! Praise God!

So we hiked. It was fabulous. We ate at a yummy BBQ restaurant that had all sorts of vegetarian choices, but then I ate the meat I should’ve just eaten the grilled portabello mushroom. What is up with me? Then we had milkshakes on the way back from this place that my dh discovered that he loves. He chose cookies ‘n cream for me. It was a very nice family day and the kids were totally pooped when we finally made it home. It was 2+ hours of driving each way. We left around 9 and made it home around 7. I am going to sleep well tonight!

I hope everyone is doing well! Have a great night!

No way!

(A blogthings quiz was here that said my IQ was 120)

Psha! My IQ is higher than that! Oh well, I’m distracted by kids. How many people have to take their IQ tests with their kids talking? LOL. Let’s hear it for my mathematical intelligence though. I rock! No wonder I was a math major, hehe.

Today has been very nice. Matt did a little photo shoot for me, which I put on our private family photo blog. Email me if you want a link – its password protected. Anyways, it was super cute. He did this hilarious Hasselhoff-ish running pose that really cracked me up. Juli has been hogging the camera time in our household recently, so I’m glad that Matt is now my background on my beautiful iMac.

I was at the library with the kids today and stepped on this crazy screw that was coming out of the pavement. It went through my beautiful Roxy flip flops and hurt like a MoFo. Dude. It was intense. It never bled. I was praying that it would so that I could tell myself that I couldn’t get tetanus. I came home and washed it (yowsa!) and put some Neosporin on it and a Blues Clues bandaid (its all that we have around here). Hopefully that’ll be good enough. I then read that you need feces to make tetanus, so I’m really hoping there wasn’t any animal refuse on the sidewalk of beautiful Colorado Springs, y’know? Oh, and did I mention that after I stepped on it, I noticed that there were like a dozen of them, and they had yellow caution tape over them in a criss-cross. Oh well. I guess I took one for the team, since neither of my kids had to deal with it. I think my last tetanus shot was at 5… back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. I doubt that will protect me now.

Oh, and I forgot to update that Matt had his first dentist appointment today. I wanted to puke this morning. I was so nervous that they were going to give me a dental doomsday scenario, but everything is fabulous. No cavities. No problems. He has an overbite, but its not like we never noticed that… They said to never let him suck a bink again – I ignored them

OK, I have kids surrounding me, so I’m going to go be a good mom and play in the backyard with them

Just another day

Today started out pretty normal. I went running with the kids in the stroller and then did the Bowflex. I’m glad that my workout is already out of the way. I’m joining some fellow GCM mommies in a 1000-minute workout challenge for the month of September. Only 955 minutes to go!

The people from DirecTV are here right now, installing yet another TiVo, LOL. This will be our third, and will allow our house to record a ridiculous 7 programs at once. I think that the plan is to sell our original TiVo. The new one does HDTV and records 4 things at once. Its pretty nifty. It’ll work well with Joe’s new plasma Our oldest one was my anniversary gift a few years ago, and only records one thing at a time and is not in the greatest shape since we added a hard drive to it and it was a crappy Compaq drive, so now its making funny clicking sounds.

I’m watching the news. This is all so sad. I can’t believe the way that New Orleans is acting… its like Baghdad or something. They’re shooting people in military helicopters… they’re looting… they’re firing into police stations. Mankind is so sick. They’re acting like animals. Well, animals with guns… Even still, I can kind of understand, because those days without power after Frances were some of the hardest days of my life (both emotionally and physically). Its so sad. I would never want to relive those days, and our problems were NOTHING compared to what people are dealing with down there. I was reading on the news about how they are hijacking fork lifts to break into pharmacies and how they’re stealing the guns from walmart. That’s such a lovely combination… drugs and guns. Niiice.

In much more selfish news – I was really annoyed to pay $47 to fill up my gas tank last night. It looks like I need to teach my kids to pedal a bicycle built for three

Well, I’m going to finish cleaning and such. Exciting stuff.
